Cold Laser Therapy is Found to Reverse the Inflammatory Process of Arthritis, and Increase Biosynthesis of Cartilage
A new study analyzed the effects of cold laser therapy on chronic arthritis induced in rats using hydroxyapetite (gives rise to rheumatism and is found in over 20% of joints with osteoarthritis)and calcium pyrophosphate (this provokes chondrocalcinosis)crystals. Scientists separated 56 rats equally into seven groups:
Group A was a control group.
Group B was injected with HP (hydroxyapetite) for two weeks.
Group C was injected with HP and was treated with laser.
Group D was injected with CaPP (calcium pyrophosphate) for two weeks.
Group E was injected with CaPP and treated with laser.
Group F was injected with a physiologic solution.
Group G was only treated with laser and NOT injected at all.
Scientists collected and examined tissue samples from the knee joint using light microscopy. The results of this study found that Group C and Group E, the rats that were induced with arthritis and were treated with laser for two weeks, had an increase in the biosynthesis of cartilage, the inflammatory process was reversed, and that the arthritic process was slowed down. Scientists also noticed that structural alterations in the knee joint that developed due to arthritis significantly diminished after the cold laser treatments.
The other two groups, Group G (which had laser alone but did not have any injections), and Group F, (the group that was injected with physiologic solution) produced no histological tissue changes. This finding is important because it indicates that cold laser therapy only affects and treats damaged tissue and doesn’t affect a healthy joint. It also indicates that the injections had nothing to do with the positive results of the study.1
This study proves , yet again, that Cold laser therapy is a viable treatment for those seeking a non-invasive treatment option to reduce the adverse effects of arthritis, and don’t want the adverse effects typically seen with ‘conventional medical treatments’.

Cold Laser Therapy Helped Intense Knee Pain When Surgery and Injections Failed
Before coming in for cold laser therapy with Dr. Schnee the pain in my left knee was intense! It felt like someone took a chisel, put it on the inner side of my left leg and banged away. Each step I took hurt. I wasn’t able to stand and put any pressure on my left knee. Going up and down the stairs was nearly impossible.
Prior to undergoing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I had multiple knee surgeries. I have had physical therapy for my knee several times. I’ve had multiple rounds of Synvisc injections. None of these have helped to any great extent. My last knee surgery was just over a year ago and it was WORTHLESS. My knee pain was still significant. I was told that I would need knee replacement surgery sooner than later.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I am very pleased with the results. I now have little to no knee pain. The exercises that she had me doing have greatly increased my confidence in everyday activities. My knee feels strong and secure. My knee has improved 80-90%. Dr. Alexandra Schnee’s staff is great!

Dallas Cold Laser Therapy Eliminates Excess Fluid and Swelling in the Knee Joint
When there is a soft tissue injury involving the knee joint, often there is damage to the sensitive layers of tissue found deep beneath the skin. As a result, swelling around the knee joint will develop. Some examples of soft tissue located in and around the knee joint are muscles, tendons, nerves, bursa, cartilage, and meniscus.
Soft tissue in the knee can be injured or traumatized in various ways which causes the knee to swell. The most common soft tissue injuries to the knee in individuals under 40 are due to sports activity, a fall or an accident. Another less known cause of soft tissue damage and trauma is as a result of knee surgery. Normally after knee surgery, the tissue in and around the joint should heal and the swelling in the knee should resolve within a few days. However, if there is unresolved soft tissue trauma then the knee reacts by producing fluid. Also, in individuals over 40, soft tissue in and around the knee joint can be injured or traumatized by years of ‘wear and tear’ or arthritis. This is why many individuals diagnosed with arthritis will develop swelling or fluid accumulation around the knee joint.
Cold lasers or low level lasers are very effective at treating soft tissue injuries and eliminating the excess fluid and swelling in the knee joint that develops as a result. The normal reaction for the human body after a soft tissue injury is “to protect” the injury with edema, a thin or watery fluid which develops in tissue spaces or cell interstices. Unfortunately, excess edema or fluid causes swelling in the knee that inhibits movement of the damaged tissue through the lymphatic system (the system in our body responsible for getting rid of toxins and excess fluid). Soft tissue injuries result in two types of pain. The first is the actual traumatic pain from the injury itself, and the second is from the swelling that results. Cold laser therapy actually helps relieve the pain in two ways. First it helps heal and repair the damage done to the tissue on a cellular level from the trauma itself, and secondly the laser stimulates the lymphatic system which helps absorb the excess edema from the cells.
As a result of cold laser therapy the excess fluid and swelling in the knee will often be completely eliminated and the soft tissue damage in the knee joint will heal. The best part is that this all happens without the need for knee surgery, injections, fluid drainage or medications.
Cold laser therapy eliminates excess fluid and swelling in the knee joint. So if you are suffering from swelling in the knee and knee pain due to an injury, post arthroscopic surgery, or arthritis then you should consider getting cold laser therapy treatments.

Susan K. is 62 years old, and is from Dallas Texas. She works in a kitchen and is on her feet all day long. Before coming in to see me for treatments she had Synvisc injections, and was told that she needed a total knee replacement because she was “bone on bone”. She found Dr. Alexandra Schnee after reading about her in the Dallas Morning News. Soon after she started cold laser treatments for her knee she started to notice a slight improvement. After completing her full treatment plan she is 80% improved and no longer suffers with severe knee pain.
The video was taken two months after she completed treatments and with her permission.

FDA Warns Public: Medical Lasers May Only Be Sold To Licensed Medical Professionals
Occasionally I receive an e-mail or a phone call from a prospective patient asking me if they can buy the medical lasers I use in my office on the internet for home use, OR if the lasers I use are the same as the ones they saw being sold on an infomercial.
The answer is NO.
You cannot legally purchase Class IIIB or Class IV medical cold lasers on the internet unless you are a licensed health care professional. In addition lasers advertised to the public in a magazine or in an infomercial are NOT true lasers. These advertised devices are either LED’s (light emitting diodes), which work like expensive heating pads, or they are labeled as Class I, II, or IIIA lasers. These classes of ‘lasers’ emit the same type of light and are as ‘powerful’ as laser pointers or bar code scanners and will do nothing to get rid of your pain.

Knee Injections Never Gave Patient Pain Relief
Both knees hurt when I tried to walk for any distance. The pain caused me to stop and sit whenever I could. I could never squat, or bend my knees even as much as a 45 degree angle. Exercise with any movements that required bending or sitting for an extended time without propping my right knee up was difficult. The orthopedic surgeon x-rayed both knees and said I would need total knee replacements when I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. He also gave me cortizone shots in both knees about twice over a period of a year or more. Neither shot gave me relief longer than a couple of days.
Since completing Cold laser treatments with Dr. Schnee it is now possible for me to stand for at least 30 minutes to an hour, which is much more than before. There is less pain when I walk now and I hope this will continue getting better. My overall percentage of improvement is between 40-50% or more. I have more mobility without as much pain!

Dallas Knee Pain Patient, Can Sleep Better at Night after Cold Laser Therapy
My knees felt pretty bad-especially when going up and down stairs and going on long walks. I also had a difficult time getting comfortable in bed to sleep. I had arthroscopic in 1997 and I was told I needed a total knee replacement.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can now walk, sleep better at night and I can climb stairs with hardly any pain now. I am pleased with my overall experience and I am about 70% better than I was before starting care.

Extreme Knee Pain Helped by Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Therapy
“Dr. Schnee Has Turned Out To Be My Salvation…Thank You For Making My Life Better!”
Before doing treatments my knee pain on a scale of 1-10 was at the top of my pain tolerance. My knees hurt all day and all night. I was limited to things I wanted to do because of the pain. I could not sleep at night (average night sleep 4-5 hours). I could not sleep on my side because my knees would touch. (I had to put a pillow between my legs). I could not sit in a car for long periods of time and I could not stand or walk for long periods of time. I was on heavy dosage of pain pills. I was taking 2 pain pills in the morning and 2 in the evening, and 2 pills a day for inflammation. I even tried shots for the pain. I had surgery on my left knee in the early 1970’s and most recently in the last 2 years. I was told I need a knee replacement. I did not want this option, I found out about Dr. Schnee thru the Dallas Morning News and she turned out to be my salvation. Now I can sleep on my side thru the night without pain. I can stand for much longer periods of time and walk longer distances without limping and without severe pain. The inflammation in my knees is gone and I actually can see my knee caps.
Overall I am very pleased with my results. My pain has decreased considerably, the swelling around my knees has almost vanished, I sleep thru the night on my side and I am far more mobile. Overall I would say that I am about 75-80% better and at my best and that to me is the difference between night and day. Dr. Schnee and her staff are fantastic and the most caring and knowledgeable Doctor and staff I have ever met. Thank you for making my life better!

No Cartilage, and Bone on Bone Patient Recommends Cold Laser Therapy to Anyone in Pain
Some days I could not walk without severe knee pain. On a scale of 1-10 it was sometimes a 10 but never less than a 4. Even at night the pain was severe. I could not sleep because I had to move my knees and legs so that I could find a less painful position. I could not go up stairs without a hand rail! I could not stand more than 5-10 minutes. I tried lots of Aspirin and Advil, cortisone shots, and prescription pain killers to help relieve the pain. I wore knee braces and took lots of hot baths. I was even told by two doctors after having an MRI that my only option was to replace both knees. I was told that I had no cartilage left and I was bone on bone.
Since completing treatments with Dr. Schnee I can sleep painlessly through the night. I can even go up stairs. I feel that I can walk about 50% more without feeling any knee pain. I am at least 50-70% better now since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. The hands on approach by Dr. Schnee was great! The whole office seemed to work together and was always very pleasant. I would recommend this as an option to anyone over surgery.

Another Patient Saved From Having an Unnecessary Knee Replacement
I had a head on car accident thirty years ago and both knees were severely damaged. I was informed my knees would never bend (properly). Over time and with added years the pain in my knees has changed from intermittent pain to constant pain and has been getting progressively more severe.
I could not sit for extended periods of time. I am a full time student so this interfered with my ability to study and concentrate. I had difficulties sitting in low chairs and getting back up (this included toilets), navigating stairs was painful especially when carrying heavy objects. I was no longer able to kneel or exercise. When walking more than a block my right knee would buckle. I suffered a severe fall resulting in an ambulance trip to the hospital, multiple x-rays and a large bill. Most importantly sleeping through the night was almost impossible as turning was painful and would wake me up. Sleep deprivation is physically and psychologically detrimental to the body. I was getting frustrated and depressed as I contemplated the possibility of knee replacement.
I took Aleve and Celebrex which upset my stomach. I also took Hydrocodone to help with the pain. An orthopedic surgeon suggested I wear rubber braces with whale bone inserts. These were hot, uncomfortable and it was painful to sit down. After a severe fall the hospital doctor issued me a larger brace from ankle to hip with Velcro straps. It made my right leg stiff and difficult to walk and almost impossible to drive a vehicle.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can sit for longer periods, making it easier to concentrate and study. I can sit in low chairs and get back up with only some discomfort. Going up and down stairs is now ‘doable’ without having to pull myself up by the handrail. I am able to kneel with minimal pain. I am able to exercise and walk great distances without the fear of falling. I get in and out of my truck without knee pain.
I believe that my knee pain has diminished by 80%. The very best part of this experience is that now I am able to sleep through the entire night without knee pain (waking me). My disposition is much better and I can concentrate and study. I was absolutely pleased with my overall experience! There was no down time, no pain, and much cheaper than surgery!
