Omega-3 Fatty Acids Help Boost the Effectiveness of Glucosamine
Recently in the Journal of Advances in Therapy German researchers discovered that adding omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oil) to glucosamine sulfate improves the symptoms of arthritis compared to just taking glucosamine alone.
One hundred seventy seven men and women diagnosed with moderate to severe hip or knee osteoarthritis were randomly placed in two groups. The first group received glucosamine sulfate without omega-3 and the other group received glucosamine sulfate with the omega-3 fatty acid. Both groups took the supplements for 26 weeks.
Eighty percent of the group noticed a reduction in pain, 44% of those were from the group that received the combination of glucosamine and omega-3, and 32% of those were from the group that received only the glucosamine sulfate.
The authors of the study remarked that glucosamine sulfate improves cartilage metabolism, and omega-3’s help further reduce degradation of cartilage by reducing inflammation which ultimately helps reduce pain and swelling.
Note: Glucosamine/Chondroitan/MSM should be used as a SUPPLEMENT to care. It is not a ‘cure all’ but if the correct dose and correct type of glucosamine is taken daily then you will notice a difference overall symptomatically. (Please keep in mind that not all glucosamine is created equal. This is a topic that I discuss with my patients because there seems to be a lot of confusion about it.)

Only 48% Were Able to Return to Their Normal Activities, Several years After Arthroscopic Surgery
A long-term study to determine the outcomes of patients who underwent arthroscopic partial lateral meniscectomy (partial removal of the lateral meniscus) for lateral meniscus tears was conducted in otherwise normal knees. The study reviewed patient’s activity level, clinical, and x-ray results.
Patient’s who underwent the surgery were followed up with a minimum of 5-8 years later. They were evaluated by questionnaire, x-rays, and knee examinations. Initially, only 85% of those who underwent surgery were able to temporarily return to pre-injury activity level. However, this percentage dropped to 48% at the time of follow-up. The study concluded that the activity level of patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery for partial lateral meniscus removal is likely to deteriorate with time. The study also concluded that patients should be counseled concerning long-term expectations regarding their knee pain.
If you’re still suffering from knee pain after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program may be the answer to your problem. Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser treatments (cold laser treatments), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. More Severe Arthritis, Pain and Bow-legged if Over Forty and had Arthroscopic Knee Surgery
Forty-nine patients who were more than forty years old when medial meniscectomy (arthroscopic surgery to remove the medial meniscus due to a tear) was performed returned for follow-up evaluation one to twelve years postoperatively. Pain was present in 62.2 % of patients who underwent surgery to ‘clean out’ degenerative tears (tears due to arthritis), and in 75% of those who underwent surgery to ‘clean out’ traumatic tears (tears due to injury).
The medial (inner) joint space was significantly thinner in patients with degenerative tears versus those with traumatic tears.
The x-ray findings of osteoarthritis were significantly more severe on the side operated on.
The angle of the knee was relatively more ‘bow legged’ on the surgically treated knee (mean, 5.3 degrees) versus the knee that did not undergo surgery.
If you’ve had arthroscopic knee surgery in the past and you’re still suffering with knee pain then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser treatments (cold laser treatments), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. Low Level LaserEffective wih NSAID Resistant Patients
Cold Laser Therapy for Knee Osteoarthritis Is an Effective and Side-Effect Free Therapy in NSAID Resistant Knee Pain
In order to ease osteoarthritis knee pain many knee pain sufferers will take NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). NSAIDs can either be prescribed or be purchased over-the counter. The most popular drugs are Mobic, Naprosyn, Ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin), and Alleve. Unfortunately, many of these drugs have long term side-effects and are not EFFECTIVE OR SAFE for those suffering with osteoarthritis knee pain. Many knee pain sufferers have consumed NSAIDs for so long that they are no longer a viable treatment, and they become resistant to the drugs.
Previous clinical studies have shown effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) in reducing pain and inflammation. In a recent study, after 6 weeks of NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) consumption, 386 unsatisfied patients were treated with cold laser therapy. Cold laser therapy was conducted to determine if cold laser therapy was an effective treatment for osteoarthritis knee pain. After completing just 12 sessions the effects of cold laser therapy were assessed. Researchers discovered that there was a statistically significant improvement in pain, night pain, morning stiffness, walking pain, inflammation, and range of motion after the cold laser therapy treatment was performed.
The study concluded that cold laser therapy is an effective and side effect-free adjunctive therapeutic modality for knee pain osteoarthritis even if the patient is NSAID resistant.
Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is a complete treatment plan that combines cold laser treatments, non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. It is considered a conservative, non surgical, safe, effective treatment program that may help you avoid knee surgery.

Dear Dr. Schnee…My Greatest Relief Was The Considerable Reduction Of Pain In My Knee Joints
The following is an unsolicited letter written by a patient who completed Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.
Dr. Schnee,
Years ago, shots of various mixtures did not help my joint arthritis pain, & I considered Radio-Frequency treatment. However, studies revealed that hot-radiation was counter-productive, harmful to body tissues, nerves & cells. When directional-lasers, low-power/controllable were developed, I was excited about their use in the body. Yet no medical practice/use was available. As the 20th century closed, research, doctors & studies learned that COLD LASER was indeed very beneficial in the stimulation of protein, enzymes & cell rejuvenation. Again, few medical applications were available. COLD LASER was an answer to a non-invasive treatment of joints & surrounding tissue. In searching for experienced practitioners/treatment, they did not exist, only expensive trial work. Non-invasive is key with sensitivity to anesthesia in joint-replacement surgery.
I am so grateful for your experience & attention to extreme detail in your protocol treatment. Your close attention to patients needs & area of mental & physical direction is much appreciated & in post treatment.
My greatest relief was the considerable reduction of PAIN in the knee joints & a noticeable reduction in acute inflammation (most beneficial in cell stimulation)…I am most grateful to you & your fine staff for my considerable improvement, during & after treatment.
James P., 85 years young, Dallas, Texas

Study Proves Cold Laser Therapy is An Effective Tool for Tissue Repair and Pain Relief!
A statistical meta-analysis study was completed in order to determine the overall treatment effects of laser phototherapy (AKA cold laser therapy or low level laser therapy) on tissue repair and pain relief. The study found that Cold lasers increased collagen formation, increased the rate of healing, increased tensile strength, decreased time needed for wound closure, increased tensile stress, increased the number and rate of degranulation of mast cells and provided pain relief.
These findings prove that Cold Lasers should be utilized by doctors as a tool to help patients suffering from chronic knee pain due to tissue damage (for example cartilage/meniscus tears, muscle strain/sprains, bursitis, tendonitis, arthritis, scar tissue…).

Cold Laser Therapy is Considered Safe Way To Treat Chronic Pain
A Retrospective Study Concludes That Cold Laser Therapy Is Considered a Safe, Effective, and Side-Effect-Free Treatment for Chronic Pain. The use of low level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) has been reported in international literature for over 30 years as a method to treat chronic pain. The aim of the study was to assess the long-term effects of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) through a retrospective survey using questionnaires. A cold laser was used at a wavelength of 830nm on over 1,087 patients at the Shiroto Clinic in Japan. A questionnaire was sent to subjects a l-4 years later to find out if they were still feeling the results of the laser treatment. Six hundred sixty two patients responded to the questionnaires (265 males, 397 females, mean age of 53.4 years).
The study concluded that 73.3% of men and 76.8% of women had positive long term pain relief from cold laser treatments. In addition to proving that cold laser therapy provided patients with substantial long-term pain relief. The questionnaires also asked patients about psychosomatic factors such as well-being, physical energy, and general fatigue. Not surprisingly all of these quality of life factors improved probably due to significant pain relief that was realized from the low-level laser treatments.
As a result of this study Low level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) is considered safe, effective, and side-effect-free, making it an ideal adjunctive therapeutic modality for intractable chronic pain.
At the DFW Spine & Joint Center we use multiple low-level lasers in order to achieve optimal results, and to have the most beneficial effect on the tissues being treated. It is important that care is not fragmented and that cold laser therapy is combined with other therapies, sometimes simultaneously, in order for results to be sustainable. In addition, the lasers that are used during treatments are low-level lasers NOT class IV or high power lasers that burn.

Recently Released: Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial Study About The Positive Effect Of Low-Level Laser (Cold Laser Therapy) In Knee Osteoarthritis
A double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled study was conducted to find out whether Low level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) actually increases circulation and blood flow in the knee and decreases knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. Patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis were randomly separated into two groups. One group received cold laser treatments the other group received placebo cold laser therapy. The placebo group received treatments from an ineffective laser that had the same appearance as the laser that worked. Patients were examined before the study, 2 weeks into the study, immediately after the study and 2 months after completing the study. As part of the examination thermography, knee flexion and knee joint circumference were measured. Knee joint pressure sensitivity along with the visual analog scale (pain scale) were also measured and recorded.
The results showed that the group treated with low level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) felt a significant improvement in pain, the knee circumference reduced (due to swelling reduction), pressure sensitivity decreased, and knee joint flexion increased.
On the other hand, the group treated with the placebo laser experienced NO change in pain, and there wasn’t an increase in joint flexion. The placebo group also experienced no significant decrease in knee circumference (there wasn’t a decrease in swelling), or a decrease in pressure sensitivity.
The results of this study clearly demonstrate that the use of low-level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) reduces pain in patients suffering with Knee Osteoarthritis. Additionally, low-level laser therapy improves microcirculation in the treated area, reduces swelling, as well as helps increase knee joint mobility.
If you suffer with knee pain, swelling and tenderness due to osteoarthritis then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser treatments (cold laser treatments), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. “I Had Arthroscopic Surgery On My Knee, Which I Regret.”
Before completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I had pain in my left knee that would wake me up at 2-3:00 am in the morning. I was unable to get a good nights rest. I could
not sleep without waking up in the middle of the night. I went to a knee specialist doctor and he did arthroscopic surgery and shots. They did not work! I regret getting arthroscopic surgery.
Now after completing treatments with Dr. Schnee I can now sleep 6-8 hours, which was my normal amount of time, before all of this pain started.
I am 100% pleased with the treatments! Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Program has relieved me of all pain during my sleeping period. I am an active, retired, 66 years old and pain-free!!
Mr. B gave Dr. Alexandra Schnee permission to use his unsolicited testimonial for marketing purposes.
If you suffer from knee pain at night and can’t get a goodnights sleep or if you have knee pain from arthritis, ‘bone on bone’, a meniscus tear, Baker’s Cyst, tendonitis, bursitis, a knee injury, or unsuccessful knee surgery, and live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area call our office at 214- 596-1051 to find out if you’re a candidate for Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.

Life Extension Magazine: Cold Laser Therapy is a Breakthrough in the Relief of Chronic Pain!
Life Extension magazine published an article written by Dr. Julius Goepp, about low-level lasers entitled Breakthrough in the Relief of Chronic Pain Without Drugs! Here is an excerpt:
Pharmaceutical companies have deceived the public into believing the solution for chronic pain is to take drugs. Millions of people have perished from the side-effects of these drugs, and their effectiveness in relieving pain is only temporary at best.
In a landmark discovery, a technology utilizing low-level laser light therapy is providing a safe and long-lasting relief for the most common types of chronic type pain.
Dr. Goepp continues the article by writing about Dr Nordquist, a medical doctor in the Bahamas who was told he needed bilateral knee replacements, but instead tried cold laser therapy (low-level laser therapy) on his knees. As a result of cold laser treatments, he was able to completely avoid getting his knees replaced.
Dr. Nordquist states in the article, “When I stepped off that treatment table the first day, it was the first time in years that I set foot on the ground without feeling like knives were going through my knees!”
Dr. Nordquist’s experience was such a positive one that he decided to open a chronic pain treatment center using cold laser therapy in the Bahamas. Since opening his center he has treated over 300 patients suffering from a variety of conditions and more than 90% have reported total pain relief. Only 2-3% of the patients he’s treated have had no beneficial effect at all.
Dr. Nordquist’s patients undergo a customized treatment plan much like our patients do at the DFW Spine & Joint Center. It is important that care is not fragmented and that cold laser therapy is combined with other therapies, sometimes simultaneously, in order for results to be sustainable. In addition, the lasers that are used during treatments must be low-level lasers NOT class IV or high power lasers that burn. Depending on the condition, multiple low-level lasers must used in order to achieve optimal results, and have the most beneficial effect on the tissues being treated.
