Treating Knee Pain From A Baker’s Cyst, Meniscus Tear And Arthritis With Cold Laser Therapy
A Dallas Residents Story Of Overcoming Knee Pain And Avoiding Knee Surgery With This High Tech Treatment
The following is the true story of Jill Vann a 61 year old Plano resident diagnosed with arthritis, a meniscus tear, a Baker’s Cyst, and near bone on bone and the treatments she tried before she finally found Dr. Schnee.
“In September of 2009 my pain was focused on the inside of my left knee. From time to time it would vary to the back portion of the knee. Unless one has actually experienced this type of knee pain, it is hard for someone to grasp how intense this can be. The pain was sharp, stabbing, burning and achy. Walking, climbing stairs, sitting, sleeping were all uncomfortable. I had severe swelling in the back of my knee. The pain was constant. I was always groaning every time I took a step. It was crippling me and my well being. It obviously changed my life and not for the better. In December 2009 I needed to seek some options and some answers.
After about 4 months of agonizing knee pain in my left knee I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon by my primary care doctor. First, he took a knee x-ray and an MRI which revealed inflammation, some arthritis, a meniscus tear, a bakers cyst and near bone on bone. He explained what this all meant and I begged him for a cortisone injection. For 4 days I had no pain in my knee. I was brand new, but that didn’t last long. After the four days I was in excruciating pain again. Then he sent me for physical rehabilitation. I did stretches, used heat/ice packs, and lotions. I was still hurting in January of 2010. There was NO RELIEF in sight. So in February he recommended a series of three injections called Euflexxa. These injections don’t tickle. They are painful. They first start out by draining the knee fluid with a syringe and then they follow that with the injection. I believe anyone who has had these injections will tell you they ‘hurt’, this is not an exaggeration. The result of these painful injections? Zero, the Euflexxa did not work on me and the pain never lessened. In March, I was referred to the ‘Brace Guy’. This was just another added expense and the brace was heavy and burdensome. In May 2010 I read about Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Pain Solution Program.
She was my last hope otherwise the orthopedic doctor told me that we would have to discuss knee surgery.
I completed Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program in July and now I can walk without knee pain, climb stairs with no effort. I can sit and get up from a chair or bed without hesitation on the first step. The swelling in the back of the knee from the Baker’s Cyst is minimal. And I can pretty much do anything I want to do now.
I am so pleased with the results of this program! I thoroughly enjoyed each and every treatment especially the wonderful massage at the end of each visit. What a treat! Each therapist is precise and extremely adequate with each session. Dr. Schnee explained to me from the very beginning that because my knee condition was severe that I would probably not be 100% pain free. But I feel like I am 100% because I am 85-90% pain free! For me these treatments have been very successful. I am walking without pain. I don’t wake up during the night whenever I move my leg. There are times that I even forget my knee ever hurt so badly. I have NO sharp, stabbing or burning pain in my knee. It has definitely helped me get back on track.
Anyone who has issues with their knee needs this program it WILL work for you too.

Severe Arthritis Knee Pain in Both Knees is Finally Relieved with Dr. Schnees’ Cold Laser Knee Program
My knees felt awful. I had knee pain in both knees when I walked and when I stood for any length of time. I used a cane to get around. I tried knee shots but they didn’t work.
Since completing cold laser treatments with Dr. Schnee I can now stand without having knee pain, and I don’t use a cane to get around! I am at least 50% better then I was before starting care with Dr. Schnee.

Patient Cancels Knee Replacement Surgery After Bone on Bone Knee Pain is Eased with Cold Laser Knee Program in Irving, Texas
Before starting Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I was informed that due to both knees being ‘bone on bone’ that I needed knee replacements. I was actually scheduled to have knee replacement surgery but I decided to complete Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program first to see if it would help relieve any of my knee pain.
Before starting treatments with Dr. Schnee, my left knee was sore and my right knee felt like there was an ice-pick jabbing into it on every step. I could not get into my pool or work hardly at all due to the pain. A few months ago, I even tried injections in both knees with no results.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Knee Program my knees feel 60% better, and I am no longer scheduled to get knee replacements. Both of my knees have improved a lot and with the exercises Dr. Schnee gave me I hope to continue improving.

Cold Laser Therapy is Found to Reverse the Inflammatory Process of Arthritis, and Increase Biosynthesis of Cartilage
A new study analyzed the effects of cold laser therapy on chronic arthritis induced in rats using hydroxyapetite (gives rise to rheumatism and is found in over 20% of joints with osteoarthritis)and calcium pyrophosphate (this provokes chondrocalcinosis)crystals. Scientists separated 56 rats equally into seven groups:
Group A was a control group.
Group B was injected with HP (hydroxyapetite) for two weeks.
Group C was injected with HP and was treated with laser.
Group D was injected with CaPP (calcium pyrophosphate) for two weeks.
Group E was injected with CaPP and treated with laser.
Group F was injected with a physiologic solution.
Group G was only treated with laser and NOT injected at all.
Scientists collected and examined tissue samples from the knee joint using light microscopy. The results of this study found that Group C and Group E, the rats that were induced with arthritis and were treated with laser for two weeks, had an increase in the biosynthesis of cartilage, the inflammatory process was reversed, and that the arthritic process was slowed down. Scientists also noticed that structural alterations in the knee joint that developed due to arthritis significantly diminished after the cold laser treatments.
The other two groups, Group G (which had laser alone but did not have any injections), and Group F, (the group that was injected with physiologic solution) produced no histological tissue changes. This finding is important because it indicates that cold laser therapy only affects and treats damaged tissue and doesn’t affect a healthy joint. It also indicates that the injections had nothing to do with the positive results of the study.1
This study proves , yet again, that Cold laser therapy is a viable treatment for those seeking a non-invasive treatment option to reduce the adverse effects of arthritis, and don’t want the adverse effects typically seen with ‘conventional medical treatments’.

Could Exercise Be Making Your Knee Pain Worse?
Most individuals suffering from a meniscus tear, cartilage loss, severe arthritis, tendonitis, bursitis, or a baker’s cyst in the knee find it impossible to exercise without experiencing knee pain. ‘No pain, no gain’ should not be the motto when it comes to exercising if you have been diagnosed with a knee problem.
Knee exercises should only be performed if the soft tissue in and around your knee joint are not damaged. If you have been diagnosed with a meniscus tear, tendonitis, bursitis or a baker’s cyst you WILL MAKE THE PROBLEM WORSE BY EXERCISING. In addition, if you’ve been diagnosed with ‘bone on bone’ or severe arthritis then there is a 60% chance that you will tear the meniscus or remaining cartilage in your knee if you exercise or do anything that stresses the knee joint. The reason for this is that the cartilage/meniscus in an arthritic knee is drier and more brittle and tears easier than the cartilage in a healthy knee.
Again, exercise should only be performed once the muscles, ligaments, cartilage, tendons, and meniscus in the knee are healed and repaired; otherwise, exercise will only compound the problem and cause further damage to the joint. Once the tissues in and around the joint have been treated properly then the FINAL STEP is to rehabilitate the muscles around the joint by exercising. Otherwise, if you don’t treat what is causing your knee pain exercise will only COMPOUND THE PROBLEM AND FURTHER DAMAGE THE JOINT and the muscles around the joint will NEVER get stronger.
If you want your knee to get treated but do not want to undergo knee surgery then consider our Cold Laser Knee Program. Most professional athletes undergo a series of cold laser treatments in combination with other modalities to get them back in the game quicker because it helps them avoid often career ending surgeries.
Cold lasers help reduce/eliminate pain and inflammation, repair and heal damaged/ irritated tissue. In addition, Cold Lasers speed up the healing process so that you can get back to exercising again, safely without side-effects. Our Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser treatments (cold laser treatments), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. Every patient’s program is unique depending on whether they suffer from arthritis, ‘bone on bone’, meniscus tears, bursitis, tendonitis, Baker’s Cyst, post surgical arthroscopic knee pain, or a combination of the listed conditions.
If you can’t exercise because you are suffering from knee pain due to cartilage loss, ‘bone on bone’, or osteoarthritis of the knee and you want to avoid surgery then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program may be the answer to your knee problem.
