A statistical meta-analysis study was completed in order to determine the overall treatment effects of laser phototherapy (AKA cold laser therapy or low level laser therapy) on tissue repair and pain relief. The study found that Cold lasers increased collagen formation, increased the rate of healing, increased tensile strength, decreased time needed for wound closure, increased tensile stress, increased the number and rate of degranulation of mast cells and provided pain relief.
