Glucosamine Alone is Not Enough to Relieve Arthritis Knee Pain

By turbodev1 · May 13, 2010 · Filed in Health, Knee Pain, Osteoarthritis

A randomized, double blind, study was performed with two groups of patients suffering with moderate to severe hip or knee osteoarthritis.  The study  compared  the results of patient’s taking 1500 mg of glucosamine a day along with 200mg of omega-3 a day to patients who took glucosamine by itself.   At the end of the study the group that took a combination of glucosamine and omega-3  noticed a 48.5%- 55.6% reduction in osteoarthritis  symptoms (morning stiffness, pain in hips and knees) versus 41.7%-55.3% in the group that took glucosamine by itself.

If you are suffering  with arthritis knee pain then taking glucosamine along with omega-3, vitamin D, chondroitin, and MSM may be a perfect combination in helping  relieve arthritis knee pain and inflammation while helping rebuild cartilage.

Glucosamine and other supplements will help reduce arthritis knee pain, but even the most superior glucosamine product won’t fix all your knee problems.  If you are suffering from arthritis knee pain and it is interfering with your life then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program may be able to help you.  Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser therapy (cold laser therapy), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee.

At the DFW Spine & Joint Center we have the ability to use five different types of cold lasers so that every patient’s program is unique depending on whether they suffer from arthritis, ‘bone on bone’, meniscus tears, bursitis, tendonitis, Baker’s Cyst, post surgical arthroscopic knee pain, or a combination of the listed conditions.
