Cold Laser Knee Program Helps Dallas Resident Walk and Sleep through the Night Pain-Free!
Dallas resident and full-time property manager Mrs. B could hardly walk without the use of a cane when she initially came in to see Dr. Alexandra Schnee, D.C.
She was diagnosed with a Baker’s Cyst, osteoarthritis of the knee and ‘bone on bone’ by her orthopedic doctor. Since Mrs. B is the sole caretaker for her handicapped husband she chose to delay knee replacement surgery, and instead undergo Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.
The following testimonial was written by Mrs. B after she completed treatments at the DFW Spine & Joint Center.
“At times [the pain in my right knee] was extreme to the point I couldn’t walk. The knee would buckle and the pain was constant. I couldn’t walk, perform my household work, or perform my job [duties]). I tried shots in the knee, [wearing] a knee brace, over the counter medications, and heat on the affected area. The orthopedic surgeon said a knee replacement was quite possible if the Euflexxa shots did not give relief.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can do everyday chores and care for my handicapped husband as well as take care of my work obligations-I have no pain in my right knee so I can sleep at night. The knee pain and swelling is significantly reduced and with ice and Biofreeze I am able to do most everything I need to do.”

Dallas Resident’s ‘Bone on Bone’ Knee Pain is No Longer Keeping Her Up at Night After Completing Cold Laser Knee Program
“My knee pain was intense I will say it was about a 10 [on a pain scale of 0-10]. My knee was almost ‘bone on bone’, and I was told that I needed a total knee replacement. I couldn’t stand for a long time and I had to use a crutch to keep from falling. I also used to wake up in pain in the middle of the night [from knee pain].
Since starting Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can walk without a crutch, stand for a short while, and sleep thru the night without [experiencing] knee pain. I am pleased with the results. I now hardly have any pain in my knee. [And] I have little popping going on with my knee.”

What’s Good For the Heart is Good for the Cartilage in Your Knees: How Physical Activity Helps Promote Cartilage in Healthy Knees
A total of 297 healthy individuals between the ages of 50-79 who had NO PREVIOUS HISTORY OF KNEE INJURY OR DISEASE were recruited to take part in a research study to find out whether the same vigorous activity that was good for the cardiovascular system was beneficial for the knees. Cartilage volume was measured with an MRI before and after physical activity.
The study concluded that frequency and duration of activity increased the cartilage volume, and that vigorous activity has a beneficial effect on the cartilage in the knee joint in healthy adults.
If you suffer from knee pain or stiffness that eases with activity then you may want to try using a recumbent bike for 20 minutes on a daily basis. This is a great non-weight bearing activity that will get your heart rate up, help keep the weight off, and strengthen the muscles around the knee joint alleviating the stress on the cartilage!
In conclusion, if you don’t have a prior knee injury or knee condition, such as arthritis or a meniscus tear, then vigorous physical activity may actually help prevent you from developing knee pain.
If you are currently suffering with knee pain due to osteoarthritis of the knee, a meniscus tear, tendinitis, bursitis, a baker’s cyst, or post-surgical pain and you live in the Dallas, Fort Worth or surrounding areas call our office at 214- 596-1051 to find out if you’re a candidate for Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.

Joint Pain in Low Back, Elbow, and Foot Intensifies Osteoarthritis Knee Pain
New research indicates that individuals suffering with osteoarthritis knee pain experience greater knee pain if they also have pain in their low back, elbow or foot on the same side as the affected knee. The full research study is published in the December issue of Arthritis Care & Research.
The study completed on 1,389 arthritis patients ages 45-79 confirms that osteoarthritis knee pain, the leading cause of disability in the U.S according to the CDC, rarely occurs in isolation.
Whenever I consult with individuals who have suffered with knee pain for a few years or even a few months most of them will complain of either low back, hip or foot pain. Usually, this is because they have altered their gait and over time it has affected the other weight bearing joints. It is not unusual for patients to complete our Cold Laser Knee Program, experience pain relief and as a result change their gait back to a more ‘normal’ one. However, due to months or years of improper biomechanics the individuals low back continues to hurt. If this is the case and if necessary, I will refer them to my associate Dr. Robert Hanson, D.C., for a complete evaluation of their low back to find out if it would be appropriate for them to start a Cold Laser Back Program.
In addition, individuals complaining of foot pain are often referred to a podiatrist to find out if the problem can be resolved with a simple orthotic. Finally, patients complaining of hip pain arising from the hip joint itself (and not referred from the low back) are referred to an orthopedic doctor.
At the DFW Spine & Joint Center, our goal is not only to help you achieve knee pain relief but we want you feeling your best. In order to accomplish this it is sometimes vital to get other doctors involved in your health care.

Former Knee Pain Sufferer No Longer Skeptical about Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Therapy Program for Knee Pain
Mr. Gary E. came to Dr. Schnee’s office complaining of severe knee pain in both knees. He was in so much pain that he was ready to tell his orthopedic doctor to go ahead and do knee replacements with him. Fortunately, Gary’s wife found Dr. Alexandra Schnee, D.C. on the internet, read about her Cold Laser Knee Program, and requested information to be sent to her husband.
Gary was extremely skeptical at first, but after talking with Dr. Schnee and some of the other patients in her office he decided to start care.
This is what he had to say about his knee pain, and the experience he had in Dr. Schnee’s office…
“My knee pain was totally unbearable! I was using my tool cart at work like it was a walker. My knee pain was so intense that I had trouble concentrating on anything. I couldn’t get out of my chair, had trouble getting out of bed and I couldn’t climb stairs or ladders. The pain kept me up most nights. I could barely walk, but I still had to go to work all in extreme pain!
I took Celebrex and I had Supartz injections. They all worked at first but pain came back quicker each time between shots. My doctor told me that eventually I would need total knee replacements but at 58 years old I was not ready for that yet.
Since completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I am sleeping through the night. My pain level has decreased considerably. I’m able to walk briskly without wobbling from side to side. Going up stairs and ladders is much easier. The swelling has gone down so much I can actually see my knees again!
I am absolutely, without a doubt, pleased with the results from Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program!!!My mobility has increased at least 80%. My pain level has decreased by 90%. This knee treatment has made me a happier and a more pleasant person again! Thank You!!!”

Knee Replacement for Amarillo Resident is No Longer an Option Since ‘Bone on Bone’ Knee Pain is Almost Gone
Martha C. drove to the DFW Spine & Joint Center in Irving, Texas from Amarillo every week to undergo Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. This is her story…
“I had constant throbbing pain in my right knee causing me to give in to it and I was putting constant pressure on my left knee and hip. I also had knee pain at night that would wake me and cause loss of sleep. I had to move around to find a comfortable place that would ease the pain in my knee. I couldn’t walk for any length of time or distance. Climbing up and down stairs was very painful. Standing in line for a short time would bring on pain. I was told by the orthopedic surgeon that I was ‘bone on bone’ and I needed knee surgery if the pain became too intense to bear. I tried taking medications, injections, six weeks of therapy and exercise but none of those things helped.
I am very pleased with my results with Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. The knee treatments have stopped the constant pain in my knee and it has been wonderful. I am happy with my experience with the cold laser treatments and the therapists. Dr. Schnee explained everything in terms that anyone could understand. My percentage of overall improvement is 90%!”

Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program Allows Arlington Resident to No Longer Experience Knee Pain from Medial Meniscus Tear and Arthritis of the Knee
The following story is from Susan S., a physical education teacher from Arlington, Texas. The MRI of her knee indicated she had a medial meniscus tear, degenerative arthritis of the knee, and fluid/swelling around the knee joint. The orthopedic surgeon wanted to do arthroscopic knee surgery to ‘clean up’ her knee, but Mrs. S knew there was a better option…Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.
“I had a very swollen right knee and I had a pain level of 9. I limped severely and had to a take a steroid called prednisone. I could not walk without limping. Driving hurt my knee. I could not walk long distances, hula hoop, dance, or use my Wii for my leg exercises activities. I had an MRI of my knee [which showed arthritis in the knee and a medial meniscus tear]. I was told [by the orthopedic doctor] that I had to have arthroscopic knee surgery. I did not like that option. I researched online for an alternate procedure and found cold laser therapy. I did not waste any time getting cold laser therapy because I am a physical education teacher.
I am thrilled with the overall experience and my results with Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. I feel my overall improvement is 85%. I’m out of pain. I do not take any medicine. I do not limp anymore. I can bicycle and walk long distances [without experiencing any knee pain]. The swelling in my knee was reduced to less than 20%. Driving does not hurt my knee. I’m not tired from performing my job anymore. I’m happy with my results from [Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program]. I highly recommend cold laser therapy for anyone with pain, swelling or knee pain or limping. “

“Never Events” on the Rise Make Total Knee Replacement Surgery An Even Riskier ‘Event’
According to the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid a “Never Event” is defined as “A serious adverse event during inpatient [hospital] stays that should never occur and are reasonably preventable through adherence to evidence based guidelines.”
For instance, operating on the wrong knee or leaving surgical instruments in the patient after surgery are considered “Never Events.” Recently The Los Angeles Times reported that Placentia-Linda Hospital in California was fined $25,000 after surgeons working at that hospital replaced a patient’s left knee but used a replacement part designed for the right knee. The patient came in complaining of knee pain 5 months after the surgery was performed and had to undergo a second total knee replacement.
These preventable errors have been on the rise since 2007 and are expected to increase 4% a year according to the AON, the leading global provider of risk management services.
Unfortunately, these mistakes put patients at risk because they must undergo a “revision” knee replacement surgery to fix the first knee surgery.
Regardless of whether an individual has undergone one knee replacement or a revision knee surgery here is a list of just a few of the risks involved when having a total knee replacement.
- Infection
- Blood clots
- Nerve damage
- Artery damage
- Loosening of the prosthesis
- Loss of range of motion in the knee
- Fracture
- Swelling
- Bleeding
- Complications from Anesthesia
- Allergy to metal
- Complications from Blood transfusion
Please note: There is no such thing as ‘minor surgery’ so obviously, some of these risks apply to every surgery- even arthroscopic knee surgery.

Incorrect Placement Of Needle: One More Reason Why Knee Injections Aren’t Effective On Patients With Osteoarthritis Knee Pain
Research presented at the 2010 Annual Scientific Meeting of the American College of Rheumatology/Association of Rheumatology Health Professionals found most doctors performing knee injections on patients with osteoarthritis of the knee were not placing the needle in the correct location in order for the knee injection to be effective. Interestingly, when interviewed, these doctors who are specialists in performing knee injections were 95% certain that they were placing the needle in the correct location of the knee joint. 1
The point of the research was to support the use of the ultrasound- guided method of giving knee injections rather than the standard palpation technique that is most commonly used in doctors’ offices-AND FAILS!
Besides inaccurate placement of the needle leading to poor outcomes for patients choosing to have knee injections; here are a few interesting facts you should know about knee injections. (for example, hyaluronic acid injections: aka rooster comb injections: aka gel injections, SYNVISC®, Euflexxa®, Orthovisc®, Hyalgan®, Suppartz®)
- In multiple studies, researchers found that knee injections are as effective as placebo injections2,3,4, and that 80% of their effectiveness was due to the placebo effect.5
- Anti-inflammatory drugs are 48 times more effective then knee injections.6
- If pain-relief was experienced it occurred after the draining of the fluid in the knee; a step taken prior to the actual knee injection being performed.

Knee Tendonitis Forces World Record Holder Runner to Retire
Haile Gebrselassie, the world record marathon runner pulled out of the New York City Marathon and retired from the sport because of severe knee pain from knee tendinitis. At mile 16 he decided to pull out of the race to give other younger runners a chance to win. At 37 years young he felt he had no other choice but to stop running because his knee pain was so severe. On Saturday he had an MRI of his knee which showed he had fluid in his knee. In 2008, he ran the Berlin Marathon in 2:03:59. He’s won several Olympic gold medals and many world records.
What is Knee Tendinitis (aka Knee Tendonitis)?
Knee Tendonitis is when the patellar tendon gets inflamed. The patellar tendon attaches the kneecap to the shinbone. Tendonitis of the knee is considered an overuse injury, and is often also referred to as ‘jumpers’ knee or patellar tendonitis. It can also be caused from being overweight, muscular imbalances around the knee joint, tight thigh muscles, and misalignments of the bones that make of the knee joint. There are different degrees of patellar tendinitis. In severe cases it can become debilitating and it can even affect your sleep.
The good news is that individuals with patellar tendinitis respond very well to Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. Dr. Schnee’s Program combines cold laser therapy along with other forms of physiotherapy to eliminate inflammation, pain, and reduce the tight muscles and muscle imbalances around the knee joint.
Please don’t let knee tendinitis force you into retiring a sport or activity you love to do!
