Video Testimonial From Knee Pain Patient, Vicky N.
The only word that I can find to describe my knee pain was EXCRUCIATING
I could not walk, stand, climb stairs or sleep well at night. I tried over the counter pain medications, and I even went to the orthopedic doctor and I had cortisone shots (and nothing helped).
Since completing treatments with Dr. Schnee, I can do most anything I need to do with minimal knee pain and some stiffness.
Mrs. Vicky N. is a 51 year old teacher in Irving, Texas who completed Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. She gave us permission to use her unsolicited video and written testimonial to inform others about Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program as an alternative to injections, medications and surgery.

Video Testimonial From Knee Pain Patient, Juanita C.
My knee pain was awful; I don’t even want to remember it. I couldn’t even walk at times.
I started using a cane when we went to the store, or anywhere, we (often) had to go back home, because my knee (would start) hurting. I (just) couldn’t walk anymore from the pain. I would be limping. Also the pain kept me awake at night and I couldn’t sleep.
(Prior to receiving treatments) I had 2 shots (in my knee). I also tried medications and they helped for a while until they wore off. I also rubbed a lot of different lotions and creams on my knee.
I was told that I needed a knee replacement but I didn’t want that.
I am glad that I tried Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. I am now able to sleep at night without waking up from knee pain. I am so grateful for that! I used to pray that my pain would go away so that I could sleep!!!
I am very pleased with the results that I’ve achieved with Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program. I am 100% better then I was before treatments! I give thanks to God, Dr. Schnee and staff that I feel better and can walk without pain (and without a cane)!

Against All Odds: 91 Years Young, ‘Bone on Bone’, with Severe Arthritis and After Completing Treatments is 70-80% Better
I couldn’t walk for any distance or stand for any period of time because I had rather severe pain (in my knee). It was worse in the left knee! I tried pain medication and had several rounds of the three shots (SYNVISC). I never had knee surgery but the orthopedic doctor hinted that I might need surgery in the future.
After completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can now walk better and stand longer. I am very pleased with the results! I would say my knees are 70-80% better than before starting treatments!
Mr. A is 91 years young, has ‘bone on bone’ and we were still able to improve his quality of life by relieving his knee pain so that he could walk again!!! If we can help the most severe cases then maybe we can help you!!!

Does this describe you? Knee Pain When Standing, Walking, and Climbing Stairs: A Case Study
Verla Y., from Benbrook Texas, is an 80 year old female that came into my office complaining of severe pain in her left knee. Most of the pain she felt was under her knee cap and on the inside of her knee (where the knees touch). She could not stand or walk for more than a few minutes at a time without knee pain. She also felt some intermittent pain in the back of her left knee which limited her ability to extend and bend her knee.
She had been to her primary care physician in the past but he never took x-rays or recommended surgery. He just prescribed pain medication which gave her temporary relief.
Her knee pain had gotten progressively worse over the past six years but it became more severe and limiting in the past few months. When she initially came into my office she couldn’t walk, stand, vacuum, climb stairs, lift or carry items that weighed more than a few pounds without her knee hurting.
Initially, I examined and took x-rays of Mrs. Verla’s left knee. Upon examining her knee she had visible swelling all around her knee joint. She also felt pain to the touch on the medial aspect of her knee and below her knee cap. The x-rays showed signs of severe arthritis in both the medial compartment (the inside of the knee where the knees touch), and behind her knee cap. Her x-rays also showed ‘bone on bone’ on a small part of the medial aspect of the knee. Mrs. Verla knew that she had waited a long time to address her knee problem, so by the time she came to see me it had already severely deteriorated.
After reviewing and explaining her x-rays to her we discussed all of her options. I also explained cold laser therapy, exercises, and the other modalities we would be using during treatments. I was very clear that because of the stage her knee was in there was no way we could get her knee feeling 100% perfect again. She also understood that if she chose not to do any type of care her knee would progressively get worse and she would eventually need a knee replacement.
Since she did not want her knee to get any worse and she did not want surgery she decided to start treatments.
After a few treatments, Mrs. Verla started to respond favorably to care (just like I thought she would), and after several weeks she really noticed a significant reduction in the swelling and pain in her knee.
Now that she has completed treatments she is able to do activities that just a few weeks prior to starting care were impossible to do without pain. She can walk without knee pain, and she can get around independently without agonizing about whether knee pain will inhibit the activities she enjoys doing.
Knee replacement surgery is not even a thought in her mind anymore.
Toward the end of care she filled out a questionnaire and this is what she wrote:
“A cure was never promised or expected, but my knee is 60-70% better now after completing care (Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program). All of my questions were answered truthfully and treatments were never painful. I always looked forward to them. My knee is now much more stable, and the pain has lessened considerably. I feel that the exercises Dr. Schnee gave me will continue to strengthen my legs. I now can walk and stand without pain and I can stand from a sitting position with little to no pain.”

Only 48% Were Able to Return to Their Normal Activities, Several years After Arthroscopic Surgery
A long-term study to determine the outcomes of patients who underwent arthroscopic partial lateral meniscectomy (partial removal of the lateral meniscus) for lateral meniscus tears was conducted in otherwise normal knees. The study reviewed patient’s activity level, clinical, and x-ray results.
Patient’s who underwent the surgery were followed up with a minimum of 5-8 years later. They were evaluated by questionnaire, x-rays, and knee examinations. Initially, only 85% of those who underwent surgery were able to temporarily return to pre-injury activity level. However, this percentage dropped to 48% at the time of follow-up. The study concluded that the activity level of patients undergoing arthroscopic surgery for partial lateral meniscus removal is likely to deteriorate with time. The study also concluded that patients should be counseled concerning long-term expectations regarding their knee pain.

Is Arthroscopic Knee Surgery a ‘cure all’? Not if 32 out of 53 patients had to repeat the procedure…
Yes, arthroscopic surgery does help some patients get relief from knee pain but on the other hand so do shots, and medications. At least with shots and medications a doctor is not removing cushion from the knee joint as in the case of arthroscopic knee surgery. (Unfortunately, there are other side-effects that arise from getting shots and taking medications that I will discuss in another blog.) After years of published research, we now know that IF arthroscopic surgery does help relieve pain, by removing the meniscus either partially or in its entirety, the effects are often temporary in nature (a few months or years) and in the long run the surgery leaves the knee vulnerable to future tears and arthritic changes.
In a retrospective review of the results of arthroscopic procedures that were performed for the treatment of an acute or a chronic meniscal lesion, with or without an associated ligamentous lesion, eighty meniscal tears were identified (in seventy-five patients) that had been assumed to be stable. Of the seventy-five patients, fifty-two had been followed for two to ten years. A repeat arthroscopy was performed on thirty-two patients at an average of twenty-six months after the original arthroscopy. This means that over 61% of patients who underwent arthroscopic knee surgery had to repeat it again because it was unsuccessful the first time.

Severe Osteoarthritic Changes Occur in Knees Over Forty, after Arthroscopic Knee Surgery
I’ve written previous blogs about the subject of arthroscopic surgery, and in most cases I believe it is a useless procedure because in the long run it creates more osteoarthritic changes in the knee which ultimately leaves the patient with the possibility of having to get a total knee replacement later in life. Multiple studies support this idea and clearly indicate that osteoarthritic changes become more prominent after arthroscopic knee surgery. A recent study conducted at the Department of Traumatology in Austria also supports these studies. In this current study, arthroscopic knee surgery was performed on 284 patients to remove part of a torn meniscus.
After the surgery was completed x-rays of the knees were taken. Patients were then X-Rayed and evaluated again 53.5 months after the surgery. Two hundred forty-seven patients had been treated for medial meniscus tears and 37 for lateral menisci tears. Preoperative radiographs were compared with those at follow up and were classified. The results were analyzed statistically.
Osteoarthritic changes were classified as being worse in 38% of the patients after medial and in 24% of the patients after lateral arthroscopic partial meniscectomy (removing part of the meniscus). Patients who were older than 40 years of age and who had undergone arthroscopic partial medial meniscus removal had a significantly higher rate of osteoarthritis than patients who were younger than 40 years of age. The study concluded that partial medial or lateral meniscus removal leads to a significant increase of osteoarthritic changes, after arthroscopic surgery especially if you are over 40 years of age.

Study Proves If Your Over Forty Your Knee Will Be Worse Off After Undergoing Arthroscopic Knee Surgery
Forty-nine patients who were more than forty years old when medial meniscectomy (arthroscopic surgery to remove the medial meniscus due to a tear) was performed returned for follow-up evaluation one to twelve years postoperatively. Pain was present in 62.2 % of patients who underwent surgery to ‘clean out’ degenerative tears (tears due to arthritis), and in 75% of those who underwent surgery to ‘clean out’ traumatic tears (tears due to injury).
The medial (inner) joint space was significantly thinner in patients with degenerative tears versus those with traumatic tears.
The x-ray findings of osteoarthritis were significantly more severe on the side operated on.
The angle of the knee was relatively more ‘bow legged’ on the surgically treated knee (mean, 5.3 degrees) versus the knee that did not undergo surgery.
If you’ve had arthroscopic knee surgery in the past and you’re still suffering with knee pain then Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is considered a complete treatment plan that combines low-level laser treatments (cold laser treatments), non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. Low Level LaserEffective with NSAID Resistant Patients
Cold Laser Therapy for Knee Osteoarthritis Is an Effective and Side-Effect Free Therapy in NSAID Resistant Knee Pain
In order to ease osteoarthritis knee pain many knee pain sufferers will take NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). NSAIDs can either be prescribed or be purchased over-the counter. The most popular drugs are Mobic, Naprosyn, Ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin), and Alleve. Unfortunately, many of these drugs have long term side-effects and are not EFFECTIVE OR SAFE for those suffering with osteoarthritis knee pain. Many knee pain sufferers have consumed NSAIDs for so long that they are no longer a viable treatment, and they become resistant to the drugs.
Previous clinical studies have shown effectiveness of low-level laser therapy (cold laser therapy) in reducing pain and inflammation. In a recent study, after 6 weeks of NSAID (non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) consumption, 386 unsatisfied patients were treated with cold laser therapy. Cold laser therapy was conducted to determine if cold laser therapy was an effective treatment for osteoarthritis knee pain. After completing just 12 sessions the effects of cold laser therapy were assessed. Researchers discovered that there was a statistically significant improvement in pain, night pain, morning stiffness, walking pain, inflammation, and range of motion after the cold laser therapy treatment was performed.
The study concluded that cold laser therapy is an effective and side effect-free adjunctive therapeutic modality for knee pain osteoarthritis even if the patient is NSAID resistant.
Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program is a complete treatment plan that combines cold laser treatments, non-weight bearing exercises, and other modalities that promote rehabilitation of the knee. It is considered a conservative, non surgical, safe, effective treatment program that may help you avoid knee surgery.

Dear Dr. Schnee…My Greatest Relief Was The Considerable Reduction Of Pain In My Knee Joints
The following is an unsolicited letter written by a patient who completed Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.
Dr. Schnee,
Years ago, shots of various mixtures did not help my joint arthritis pain, & I considered Radio-Frequency treatment. However, studies revealed that hot-radiation was counter-productive, harmful to body tissues, nerves & cells. When directional-lasers, low-power/controllable were developed, I was excited about their use in the body. Yet no medical practice/use was available. As the 20th century closed, research, doctors & studies learned that COLD LASER was indeed very beneficial in the stimulation of protein, enzymes & cell rejuvenation. Again, few medical applications were available. COLD LASER was an answer to a non-invasive treatment of joints & surrounding tissue. In searching for experienced practitioners/treatment, they did not exist, only expensive trial work. Non-invasive is key with sensitivity to anesthesia in joint-replacement surgery.
I am so grateful for your experience & attention to extreme detail in your protocol treatment. Your close attention to patients needs & area of mental & physical direction is much appreciated & in post treatment.
My greatest relief was the considerable reduction of PAIN in the knee joints & a noticeable reduction in acute inflammation (most beneficial in cell stimulation)…I am most grateful to you & your fine staff for my considerable improvement, during & after treatment.
James P., 85 years young, Dallas, Texas
