Knee Pain From a Meniscus Tear, Arthritis, And a Baker’s Cyst

Marlin K., 76, Retired, Little Elm, TX

On a scale of 1-10 the pain often reached a debilitating 9 or 10 with regularity. I seldom could go an hour without some level of pain. The right side of my left knee was extremely painful when the fabric of my pants touched the skin. I had to wear a knee wrap often to diffuse this. Excruciating pain occurred after riding in or driving a car for more then 10-15 minutes. (My knee) never failed to act up, no matter the seat adjustment. At home I could not sit for a long time without pain occurring. After a while I had to get up and walk the pain off. I tried different types of pain relievers and a cortisone shot. It was only effective for 2-3 weeks then started to wear off.

Now that I’ve completed Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can now drive or ride in a car for at least an hour with no debilitating pain. I can now sit for a long time without pain occurring. I am very well pleased with the results. I would rate my improvement at least 70-75% better then when I started. It was well worth the effort and price.

Mr. K gave Dr. Alexandra Schnee permission to use his unsolicited testimonial for marketing purposes.

Life Extension Magazine: Cold Laser Therapy is a Breakthrough in the Relief of Chronic Pain!

By Dr. Alexandra Schnee, DC · December 22, 2009 · Filed in Cold Laser Therapy · No Comments »

Life Extension magazine published an article written by Dr. Julius Goepp, about low-level lasers entitled Breakthrough in the Relief of Chronic Pain Without Drugs! Here is an excerpt:

Pharmaceutical companies have deceived the public into believing the solution for chronic pain is to take drugs. Millions of people have perished from the side-effects of these drugs, and their effectiveness in relieving pain is only temporary at best.

In a landmark discovery, a technology utilizing low-level laser light therapy is providing a safe and long-lasting relief for the most common types of chronic type pain.

Dr. Goepp continues the article by writing about Dr Nordquist, a medical doctor in the Bahamas who was told he needed bilateral knee replacements, but instead tried cold laser therapy (low-level laser therapy) on his knees. As a result of cold laser treatments, he was able to completely avoid getting his knees replaced.

Dr. Nordquist states in the article, “When I stepped off that treatment table the first day, it was the first time in years that I set foot on the ground without feeling like knives were going through my knees!”

Dr. Nordquist’s experience was such a positive one that he decided to open a chronic pain treatment center using cold laser therapy in the Bahamas. Since opening his center he has treated over 300 patients suffering from a variety of conditions and more than 90% have reported total pain relief. Only 2-3% of the patients he’s treated have had no beneficial effect at all.

Dr. Nordquist’s patients undergo a customized treatment plan much like our patients do at the DFW Spine & Joint Center. It is important that care is not fragmented and that cold laser therapy is combined with other therapies, sometimes simultaneously, in order for results to be sustainable. In addition, the lasers that are used during treatments must be low-level lasers NOT class IV or high power lasers that burn. Depending on the condition, multiple low-level lasers must used in order to achieve optimal results, and have the most beneficial effect on the tissues being treated.

Weight Gain Makes Arthritis Knee Pain Worse

By Dr. Alexandra Schnee, DC · December 21, 2009 · Filed in Knee Pain · No Comments »

Osteoarthritis is most common in overweight individuals. The hips, knees, and ankles are the joints that take a beating when a person is overweight. For example they bear 3-5 X the body weight when an individual is walking.  For every pound that a person is overweight 3-5 pounds of extra weight is added to each knee when they are weight bearing.  On the other hand if there is a 10 pound weight loss then that removes 30-50 pounds of stress on the knees, hips and ankles.

Exercise is a significant component for weight loss.  Unfortunately, for individuals that have severe arthritis knee pain weight bearing exercises are often impossible to perform.  They know that exercise will help them lose weight, however most knee pain sufferers have pain while they exercise or their knees feel worse after exercising. It’s a vicious cycle.

A great alternative to walking, running, or other weight bearing exercises is using a recumbent bike or swimming for 20 minutes daily.   These are usually activities that individuals that are overweight and have knee pain can do comfortably.  Individuals should start off with these types of non-weight bearing exercises and once they start losing weight and feeling better they can shift to doing other types of exercises.

Heart Patient Gets Help After Severe Swelling in Knee and Calf

By Dr. Alexandra Schnee, DC · December 17, 2009 · Filed in Cold Laser Therapy, Testimonial · No Comments »

Mr. Arthur rushed to his Cardiologist’s office because he was suffering with severe pain and swelling in the back of his knee and calf.  Since Mr. Arthur was a past heart patient he thought his symptoms were due to a blood clot in his leg….

Instead his cardiologist   informed him that the pain and swelling was from a Baker’s Cyst that developed in the back of his knee.  The Baker’s Cyst was so large it was interfering with his circulation…

After leaving his cardiologists office Mr. Arthur called Dr. Alexandra Schnee…

The pain in my knee from the Baker’s Cyst made it difficult to walk for any length of time.  It was difficult getting out of a chair and I had difficulty climbing stairs. Remaining on my feet for any length of time (was painful).  Now after completing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Knee Program I can now walk normally, stand for longer periods of time, and climb stairs normally.

My knee feels 90% improved.

The Food You’re Eating May Be Making Your Knee Pain Worse

By Dr. Alexandra Schnee, DC · December 11, 2009 · Filed in Health, Knee Pain · No Comments »

The foods you’re eating may actually be contributing to your chronic knee pain. The foods that cause inflammation and can often lead to chronic knee pain include refined sugar, refined grains, and flour products (bread, pasta, bagels, etc.), refined oils and red meat.  These types of foods make up approximately 80% of the average American’s caloric intake.  Even eating only 30-40% of calories from these foods is too much.  A diet comprised of these types of foods creates inflammation that will affect the knee joint and surrounding muscles causing and promoting further knee pain and suffering.

An anti-inflammatory diet is one you should consider if you’re suffering with swelling and chronic knee pain (especially from arthritis).  An anti-inflammatory diet consists primarily of vegetables, fruit, raw nuts, and healthy proteins such as lean meat, skinless chicken, fresh fish and eggs. In addition, a little bit of dark chocolate and red wine in moderation are also anti-inflammatory in nature.  The best oils to use include olive oil, coconut oil, and real butter.  A very popular oil supplement that should be taken daily is fish oil that contains omega-3 fatty acids, which is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties.

Spicing your meals can also add a substantial anti-inflammatory boost.  For instance, ginger, turmeric, rosemary, oregano, garlic, coriander, have been proven to be anti-inflammatory in nature.  For instance supplementing with ginger was discovered to reduce chronic joint and muscle pain.

In summary, the food you’re eating may be promoting and exacerbating your knee pain so you may want to consider changing your diet as a natural way to help reduce swelling and pain in your knees.

If you are suffering with chronic knee pain, in addition to changing your diet you may want to consider undergoing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program, which is considered to be a safe, effective, painless alternative to knee surgery, harmful medications and shots.

Mrs. Sadie Was Told By Two Surgeons That She Needed Bilateral Knee Replacement Surgery for ‘Bone on Bone’ Knee Pain, Arthritis Pain, and Chondromalacia Patella

Sadie

Sadie U., Retired, 76 years young, Garland, Texas

Before doing Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I could not walk very much or for a long period of time.  I could not get up and out of a chair, off of the bed, or the commode without a lot of knee pain in both knees.  The up and down movement on my knees was very difficult.  I was told by two doctors that I needed knee replacements but I didn’t want surgery  so  instead  I had shots in both knees and I took pain medications to help relieve the knee pain.  The shots and pain medications didn’t really help me.  That is when searched for other options and I started Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program.

Since starting Dr. Schnee’s Cold Laser Knee Program I can now sleep much better and without a pillow under my legs.  I stand and walk for longer periods of time without pain.  Stairs are easier to climb up and down and getting up and down is easier.  Honestly, everything is now easier without the pain in my knees.  I am very happy with results of the treatments.  One knee isn’t hurting at all now and the other knee only hurts when I overdo it. I am going to come in for occasional maintenance treatments to keep from ever having to do knee replacement surgery.  I am also going to come back and get my back fixed too with the  treatments (Spinal Decompression/Cold Laser Program )that the other doctor in the office offers (Dr. Robert Hanson)  in 2010.
